4 DX of Execution

The whirlwind or the “Day Job” is the main reason why most organizations are not able to meet more important goals and/or sustain progress. Putting all your energy on just the whirlwind defeats the purpose of attaining the end goal. Just as it literally means, a whirlwind can suck and absorb all the energy, focus and attention, that other priority areas are neglected. Although doing whirlwind activities are considered necessary to meet day-to-day needs of an organization, it should only jumpstart more ways to achieve the WIG. But why do we often fall trapped and done with just the whirlwind, it is simply because we have been built to react to what appears to be urgent at the moment, we forget to weigh matters based not on urgency alone but its importance as well. We tend to only act upon executing what it is more evident and upfront, without considering how it can affect other important goals that also needs more of our time and attention. When our behavior and mindset is only concentrated on getting just the whirlwind accomplished, we fail to progress and meet expectations for set goal, overall strategy execution is immensely affected, worst neglected. I have been a victim or may still be guilty of just operating on just the whirlwind. I typically get daily requirements or expectations done, providing instruction, giving tests, and managing behavior, but to say that I am able to find time or energy to work on my WIG consciously on a daily basis is quite inaccurate. Most of the time teachers are consumed with just getting by with daily demands of the job, we are always pressed with one task after another, that having adequate time to revisit and work on our WIG will entail a significant amount of scheduling and planning, that is if we even get lucky to have that opportunity. Hopefully the overall working conditions of teachers will change so they really perform their job and meet all expectations
